BaZi ("four pillars") describes destiny through the interaction of the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches at the moment of birth. Four pairs of symbols set the basic temperament and potential.

The key to a reading is the balance of the five elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. One element is in excess, another is lacking, and this shapes typical ways of acting and erring.

The Luck Pillars show ten-year cycles: when it makes sense to start and when to conserve resources. This is not a sentence but a map of seasons.

A BaZi chart is built from your date and time of birth: four pillars for year, month, day and hour. Each pillar consists of a Heavenly Stem and an Earthly Branch, and together they form eight signs. The day of birth sets the day master, the central element around which the whole reading is built. The time zone of the birth place matters for an accurate calculation, so we confirm the city.

The calculation relies on the Chinese agricultural calendar and the daily cycle of twelve branches. As a result, the boundaries of a month and even a day do not always match the familiar ones: the hour of birth belongs to a specific branch, and the start of the year is shifted. We recalculate carefully so the pillars do not drift. Without these details the reading is distorted even when the date is correct.

From the eight signs we determine the strength of the day master, the season of birth and the distribution of the five elements. This shows whether the chart needs support or, on the contrary, restraint. Next we calculate favourable and unfavourable elements, as well as the structure of connections between the pillars. The description of a person becomes coherent: not a set of symbols but a system with inner logic.

The five elements — Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water — describe qualities of character and ways of acting. For one person Water prevails: flexibility and intuition, but also a tendency to doubt.
